If you put too big of a bar on your chainsaw, it might become severely underpowered. 2" shouldn’t make too much of a difference. But if I where you, I would stick with the size that was originally on your saw.
Buy a new one. Or you could just make sure you are chain saw-proof.
2 inches longer is no problem. You need to be sure the new bar is for your make and model.

I used to be in the rental business all bar are exchangeable of course I wouldn’t advise to put a 20" bar on a 12" saw from a old timer
