Are real chainsaws used in professional haunted houses as in universal studios?
I'm going to halloween horror nights in universal studios hollywood next weekend and just wanted to know if real ones would be used. It seem so unsafe! How safe are haunted houses really?

Some are real, some are not. Those that are real at Universal have had the chain replaced with a flint, so that it will spark when the actor runs it along the ground, but they will look, sound, and smell like a running chainsaw because that’s exactly what it is.
They are, however, safe. If you accidentally come into contact with one (though the actors are taught not to come into actual contact with you), your limbs will remain attached.
The chainsaws can be real, they just have no "chain" on them, so they’re safe.
Last time I was there, yes, they WERE real chain saws.
BUT, the blades were removed, so they couldn’t cut anything.
