Chain saw-How do you remove drive links?

I have a Remington electric chainsaw that has 50 drive links.
I bought a 14 inch Oregon replacement but it has 52 links so 2 have to be removed. Do you need a special tool?

DONT. A chainsaw is a seriously dangerous bit of kit. It isn’t like a bicycle you can mess around with. Go back to the shop and change the new chain or get a refund (use your charm!)

Yes you need a rivet spinner but it is not a simple as that. If you take a couple of links out it means that 2 of the cutters will be closer than the others, it will be out of balance and possibly dangerous, better to buy a proper chain.

Go to any small engine shop in your area that sells saw chain and tell them what your problem is… They will be happy to shorten the chain for you for very little $… They have all the parts ( and equipment ) to make sure the chain will work properly… I have personally done this THOUSANDS of times, and have yet to experiance any kind of problem…..Good Luck
