A lean fuel mixture could cause the lack of power. That could be caused by a plugged fuel filter, an air leak between the carburetor and the engine or a leaking main crankshaft seal. Most often on these small engines the problem is the carburetor. It is an easy job to rebuild it and the kit costs about $15.00. The diaphragms in the carb go bad over time and it is the fuel pump. If all the fasteners around the carburetor are tight I would suspect the carb. Have you tried turning the high speed jet open a quarter to a half a turn?
