    you would first make sure that you have the right size file, you can look at the cutting teeth and put the file sepratly into the grove and most likely tell.
    seconed you would clamp it to the bar attach the file and set the alienment up to the cporrect angle so that the file fits exactly into the groves then begin to sharpen the teeth… depending on how worn they are ussally 5-10 strokes and lift the file rotate the chain and on to the next one takes about 1/2 hour to 45 mins to file sharpen manually, hope this helps FSCB
