My chainsaw cover plate won't reinstall?

I replaced a chain on my Husqvarna. I have done this before without a problem. The cover plate won't rest flush/flat on the saw. After an hour of looking, at different angles, I can't figure out what the problem is!
The adjustment screw in lined up fine with the hole. The cover seems to have trouble fitting flush over the clutch sprocket.

The chain adjustment cog is screwed too far forward (tight). Adjust the chain looser and the cover will go right on. Take a look at the cog/pin moving when you screw the adjuster, now see the hole in the cover plate? Once it’s on, adjust the chain properly, of course.

    Good luck!

sounds like something is still raised and or not seated properly, as these covers are pretty user friendly.

    Good Luck

You’ll either have to describe it in greater detail or take a picture and post it so we can figure it out. Obviously there is something blocking the holes, the cover, the saw or something. You just need to share in a little greater depth.

aaeon is right. I had the same problem and it drove me nuts until a friend of mine showed me the problem.
