Should i buy a gas or electric chainsaw?

I think i want a gas chainsaw because i dont want to deal with an extension cordbut i dont no which on e to go with. Is there a lot of maintenance needed for a gas chainsaw. I dont know crap about small motors so should i just get an electric. Also what will a 12" chainsaw cost.
I am using it just to cut down a few small trees in the backyard

who makes the chainsaw will be a BIG determining factor in the cost. There isn’t any more maintenance on a gas motor than on a elec. But when the elec. motor takes a crap, you’ll have to start over from scratch.
You can buy a good chainsaw for about 75 bucks at home depot. I would recommend gas. Remember to oil everything and it should last you a long time.

Electric is good for a homeowner who wants to cut small trees and branches around the yard. They require little maintenance. And are inexpensive.

Gas chainsaws are great for big jobs and people who will use them often. gas motors need to be run regularly. If you don’t use the chainsaw very often then chances are it won’t start when you need.

    I would go with electric.

Go for the electric. It will cost under 50 bucks, and has very little maintenance involved.

its really the same either way

spend less money on a chain saw that runs on gas. awful for the enviropnment.

spend a little more money on a electric one, and help save mother earth.

if i were you i would buy electric.

ontop of it being eco freindly, you won’t have to buy gas for it, eventually saving enough money to have made up the difference in the two chainsaws.
    ya digg?
    :D

I have one of each. I have to say the electric saw is very reliable and a lot easier to deal with for occasional use. Mine is a 14" size and I have cut down some pretty big stuff with it.
