Should the ignition module touch the flywheel in a husqvarna 50 chainsaw?

I could not make my chainsaw start and removed the ignition module for cleaning. Putting it back, I could not determine if the module should touch the flywheel or allow some distance from it. Thanks for any answer.

  1. Todd B says:

No, there should be an air gap of no more then .010". Take an index card and fold it in half. Then pull the module away from the flywheel and tighten the screws. Take the card and stick it between the module and the flywheel. Rotate the flywheel so the magnet is in front of the card and module. Loosen the screws, the magnet will draw the module to it, then the tighten the screws down, then rotate the magnet away and remove the card.

should have about 1 mm clearance
